contact meStaff resourcing over the summer months is a subject we touch on every year but this summer, there is an added factor that will heap even more pressure on estate and letting agents.
As well as branches across the country being short staffed due to annual leave, a leading property recruitment specialist has been quoted as saying that Brexit uncertainty is causing employment problems in the property sector.
Anthony Hesse said that agency bosses are beginning to withdraw job adverts or are beginning to question whether they should replace departing members of staff who are resigning or retiring as a result of delayed Brexit negotiations and a fear of the unknown. Hesse also went on to say the recruitment issues will only worsen with further delays, and could only resolve itself when market activity picks up and confidence is restored.
Hesse’s comments come off the back of a Manpower’s latest jobs survey in March 2019 revealing that employers within the finance and business services sector, which includes estate agents and lawyers, are expecting to cut headcount over the next three months.
This means the industry can expect job cuts from June this year – to coincide with the start of the summer months. Viewber is already working with agents right across the UK to support their sales and lettings during high season, and we’re ready to step in this year.
Viewbers can become fill-in team members who can attend viewings 7 days a week – whether that’s over Bank Holidays, busy Saturdays or after 6pm when the evenings are still light. Many of our agent partners have found our service an invaluable solution to staffing problems. Using Viewbers means agents can avoid drafting in a temp, increasing the working hours of existing staff and, crucially, turning away potential buyers/tenants because there isn’t anyone available to conduct a viewing.
With the height of the summer coming up, business owners in flux about employee levels and an unknown number of agents thinking of leaving the industry, a flexible approach to staff numbers is what’s needed. Thankfully, Viewber is offered on a ‘pay as you go and only what you use’ basis.
Get in touch to discover more about how Viewber can keep your branches running at full tilt and bringing in the maximum number of offers this summer, and into other seasons as well.
